“And I submit that nothing will be done until people of goodwill put their bodies and their souls in motion. And it will be the kind of soul force brought into being as a result of this confrontation that I believe will make the difference.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., March 31, 1968
Hartford Rising! is a grassroots coalition of individuals, community organizations, and civic leaders dedicated to break the bonds of poverty on Connecticut’s Capitol City and its neighborhoods.
The coalition has committed to develop and adopt a “Community Bill of Rights;” a social compact that seeks to address the Hartford’s high unemployment, disparities in civil rights, income inequality, and lack of a quality public education for all its students.
We meet every SECOND THURSDAY OF THE MONTH:
The Salvation Army
100 Nelson Street

I’m interested in what you are about. There are other organizations formed and I’ve not seen anything they have done to help community. I do understand that change takes time and is a process if you work at it diligently.
